Women in Web3: Driving Innovation and Empowerment

a

Web3, the decentralized web, presents a new frontier for innovation and empowerment. And women are playing a significant role in driving this movement forward, bringing unique perspectives and contributions to the table.

Women are also creating startups, driving innovation, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the decentralized era.

The Women of Web3 community is one example of a group connecting women in web3, providing job and connections, learning resources, and events.

Apart from being actively involved in building the Web3 ecosystem, women are also actively investing in cryptocurrencies. According to a survey by eToro, Cryptocurrencies have driven up in the ranks of financial assets held by women.

Crypto is now the second most widely owned asset class for women after cash, suggesting it is succeeding where traditional financial markets have sometimes failed to bring more women to the table, as the report.

Overall, women are playing a critical role in shaping the future of web3, driving innovation, and empowering themselves and others.

Women have a real opportunity to lead the conversation of what web3 becomes for the future. To be at the table and not be afraid to lean into crucial decision making, defining strategy and embracing flexibility when a pivot is needed. The unknown is uncomfortable especially when uncertainty is intimidating, but growth comes from women unafraid to be leaders and have a voice. Web3 is the frontier where empowerment is built in for those unafraid to take the opportunity.”

Moreover, Web3 technology can provide a platform for women to share their stories and connect with others, leading to greater representation and empowerment. Through decentralized social media platforms, women can share their experiences and perspectives without fear of censorship or harassment.

Web3 can also provide a platform for women to showcase their skills and talents, leading to greater recognition and career opportunities in the industry.

Along with web3, the concept of communities has been thriving all over the place, due to which we are able to come up with an idea of women communities that can help discover potential in women regarding tech, art, strategy, management and community itself. Such groups help women encourage other women to participate in the ecosystem events and present themselves and their opinions about various aspects of this space. Its just that we gotta take initiaves and get answers to our curiosity ourselves. We should learn how to reach out to fellow builders ourselves and learn about things instead of waiting for people to approach us.

All over the world, women are under-represented in many areas of work. There are systematic barriers like gender-based discrimination, the inability to own an asset without a male member, challenges related to financial services and the traditional education system, which may not be accessible to many. These barriers make it difficult for women to achieve equal opportunities with men in the world of work.

However, Decentralization and Web3 technology have the potential to help overcome some of these barriers by creating new opportunities for women in fields where they are currently underrepresented, as well as providing greater access to financial resources and technology.

As we celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8th, it’s important to recognize the potential of Web3 technology to empower women and unlock new opportunities for them. Web3, the third generation of the internet, has the potential to create a more equitable and inclusive digital world by providing greater transparency, accountability, and decentralization. Web3 technology enables women to own and control their data, which can help to reduce the gender data gap and provide women with new opportunities. Decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms built on Web3 technology can also give women greater access to capital and financial products without going through traditional financial institutions that may discriminate against them. Web3 technology also has the potential to create new job opportunities for women in various fields, including blockchain development and digital asset management. It can help to increase the number of women in the technology industry and provide them with new avenues for success. Overall, Web3 technology can empower women by providing greater access to resources and opportunities, creating safe spaces for women to connect and collaborate, and reducing discrimination and bias. As we look to the future, it’s important to embrace the potential of Web3 technology and work towards a more equitable and inclusive digital world for all women.

Web3 is emerging as an all-inclusive space where women are beginning to unleash their new power and helping other women build on this potential platform.

For the past 12 years, I took the chance to work for international brands and companies to create inclusive strategies. Jumping into the Web3 rabbit hole, I realized a lack of diversity. This space could be a utopia – a wallet does not know the gender – but it still reflects our IRL unsolved problems. We must bridge the gaps to include an equal representation of our society. If you aren’t visible, your needs aren’t so you won’t be represented. If you’re not represented, you’re not seen, so you will not exist as a founder of wom3n. DAO I focus on building the next generation of female Web3 founders and investors.

Last but not the least, Web3 can be a whole game changer for bringing in gender equality which has been missing on all fronts. Not only will it help in bringing financial independence, but it will also help bridge the education gap.

As a woman who has been leading and building in Web 3 and crypto for the last 7 years, there is a lot I have learnt and a lot I have discarded. But the one thing that sticks and keeps me going has a core mission. I entered and stayed in this space because of the people, the joint mission for personal sovereignty and freedom of choice. Now I am here to support those who lead our space forward. For everyone entering this space now, who does not know the origin story of why we are even here, I urge you to read up on it and then find your own web 3 mission, the money is nice, but fulfilment is better.

This International Women’s day, let us celebrate the women in web3 who drive innovation and transform the industry. Your contributions to the field are invaluable and are helping to build a more inclusive and equitable future. Together, we can build a better future for all.

Happy International Women’s Day!
